Eligble Patients

N

Patients suffering from certain medical conditions might meet the legal criteria to be prescribed plant-based therapies if traditional treatment options have been exhausted. Conditions include chronic pain, mental health, epilepsy, autism symptoms, multiple sclerosis, insomnia, autoimmune conditions, Fibromyalgia, and cancer-related symptoms.

N

Prior to your consultation we ideally require an up-to-date letter from your GP or specialist outlining any medical conditions.

N

It is a requirement that all traditional options have been exhausted to justify a trial, or, that a patient is not willing to try another pharmaceutical medication, such as another analgesic or anti-depressant.

N

DVA patients might be eligible for DVA funding of the medicine (not necessarily the Consultation) for Chronic Pain conditions only (not mental health). Two medicines can be funded (up to 40mg THC per day) under a Tier 1 application.

Ineligible Patients

N

There are some conditions which rule out plant-based prescriptions and medicinal cannabis, including heart failure, liver failure, kidney failure, pregnancy, breast feeding, past drug abuse and past or current psychotic episodes. Patients are ineligible if they have any of these.

N

We also need to be very careful with prescribing to elderly patients and children, but these subgroups are not contraindicated.
